TOTAL BUSINESS MANAGERS AND FIRST-TIME ENTREPRENEURS PROGRAM
[titled as POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP [PGPME]
[Professional Education]
SPRING 2011 [Starting on May/June 2011]
PROGRAM OUTLINE
TARGET GROUP:
  • Fresh or experienced Graduates with minimum 50% at graduation level and  up to 3 years of  work experience as an executive or an entrepreneur [ requirements of minimum marks as stated can be relaxed in specific cases]
  • Experienced graduates with minimum 60% at graduation level and  more than 3 years of    work experience as an executive or an entrepreneur are also eligible to apply and their cases will be actively considered in special cases [ requirements of minimum marks as stated can be relaxed in specific cases].
  • Diploma holders [with at least 15 years of education] with 60% at diploma level and  minimum 3 years of  work experience as an executive or an entrepreneur [ marks and experience requirements can be relaxed in specific cases]
  • Applicants with no prior formal education in management [such as having a qualification like PGDBM/MBA/PGDBA] will be preferred
  • Busy, self confident and ambitious individuals willing to take charge of his/her destiny
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES :
  • To transform Functional Managers, without any  formal education in Management, and make them TOTAL  BUSINESS MANAGERS
  • To prepare the participants to become, depending on their personal interest,  a Future Business Leader or  a strategic management consultant or a manager working in the area of strategy 
  • To impart strategic and general management skills required to become a manager and/or an entrepreneur
PROGRAM DESIGN [ 240 Hours of LIVE contact with Faculty spread over 40 weeks]:
DESIGN
  • Four  terms of  8-10 weeks each
  • 11 AREAS with each area containing several subjects [listed below]
  • Total 240 hours of LIVE contact with faculty over the DIGITAL network, all 11 AREAS put together
  • Deployment of  LIVE, 2 Way Interactive,  DIGITAL [web conferencing ] platform for conducting 240 hours of formal sessions.
  • Availability of recorded versions in case somebody misses a session
  • Three sessions per week , each @2.5 hours, spread over 32-40 weeks, normally on Saturday afternoon [2 to 730pm] and Monday evening [6 to 830pm]
  • Studies OUTSIDE-THE-FORMAL SESSION: Minimum 20 hours of study per week will be required covering [a] materials covered during the formal sessions of 240 hours  conducted  by the faculty, [b] studies based on books recommended and guidance given there of, [c] preparation of term papers and [d]  additional inputs provided by the Academy for general readings in strategy and entrepreneurship areas [such as  articles, videos and Podcasts]
  • Looking from this perspective, the total engagement of a participant joining this post graduate program will be 1060 hours comprising [a] 240 hours of formal LIVE sessions  to be conducted by the faculty plus [b] 220 hours for writing  11  Term Papers [1 per AREA] plus [c] 600 hours of outside-the-formal sessions studies, spread over 40 weeks [15 hours per week].

NOTE:

  • All term Papers [1 per AREA, total 14] must be real-life application specific and each participant will be expected to apply the concept and practices learnt during formal sessions as well as a part of the self - studies made outside formal sessions. Specifically, participants joining this PG Program will be expected to write their 14 term papers covering relevant issues relating to strategy, leadership and/or entrepreneurship challenges that are likely to be faced by them as future managers and/or entrepreneurs in their respective future business contexts.
  • Written Examination – 14 AREAS
  • Open book on-line examinations at the end of each term
  • Concept of question banks and interviews of a few  participants, randomly selected,  immediately after each examination
  • Re-examination to improve grades with conditions
GRADING :
  • A+, A, A-, B+,B,B-, C+, C, C- and F
  • CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) for all 14 put together
ADMISSION PROCESS :
  1. Profile as given under Target Group
  2. Statement of Purpose stating intention to become a Future manager and/or an entrepreneur
  3. Written test for assessing [a] the  extent of sensitivity to general environment, [b] written communication skill and  [c] attitude and orientation towards achieving success
  4. Personal interview  for assessing  intent to become  a future manager and/or an entrepreneur
CERTIFICATION :

To be awarded  POST GRADUATE PROGRAM  IN MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP [PGPME] by The Strategy Academy Centre for Advanced Studies [TSACAS], subject to meeting the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of PGPME [Minimum CGPA: 4.0 [B MINUS], Maximum F: 2]
  • Attendance and Class Participation of 75% in the live digital classes [additional term papers to be written to make up the shortfall against the minimum required [i.e. 75%] subject to the limit of maximum shortfall set thereof]

It is an autonomous PROFESSIONAL certificate.
