FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS PROGRAM -PGPMSL

[Leading to the title of Post Graduate Program in Management, Strategy and Leadership [PGPMSL] TRACK I [For NON- MBA/PGDM]

PROGRAM:

  • [Leading to the title of Post Graduate Program in Management, Strategy and Leadership [PGPMSL] TRACK I [For NON- MBA/PGDM]

TARGET GROUPS

  • Senior managers, without any formal MBA/PGDM, having 10+ years of experience and a minimum of 50% at graduation level
  • Individuals who had successfully completed any Long Duration Program offered by leading business schools such as IIMs, XLRI etc with at least 8 years of experience and a minimum of 50% at graduation level
  • Busy, self confident and ambitious individuals willing to take charge of his/her destiny

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • To prepare the participants to become, depending on their personal interest,  a Future Business Leader or a strategic management consultant or a manager working in the area of strategy 
  • To impart strategic and general management skills required to become a future business leader

PROGRAM DESIGN

THREE Main Modules:

  1. PGPME:- 200 hours
  • 150 hours of LIVE sessions
  • 50 hrs of dissertation
  1. Innovation and Leadership – 27 hours
  2. Contemporary Practice and Research Issues [CPRI] In Strategy, Execution,   Innovation, Entrepreneurship And Leadership [23 Hours of Live contact with faculty and Academic Support Group members]

TOTAL HOURS

All 3 modules together = 250  HRS [200 hours of Live contact with faculty plus 50 hours of dissertation]

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DESIGN:

  • Three MODULES spread over  45-48  weeks each
  • MODULE I [ comprising 150 Hours of  Live sessions plus 50 hours for dissertation]
  • MODULE II & III  will have 50  hours of LIVE sessions over the digital platform
  • Deployment of  LIVE, 2 Way Interactive,  DIGITAL [web conferencing ] platform for conducting 225 hours of formal sessions [excluding dissertation].
  • Availability of recorded versions in case somebody misses a session
    Up to three sessions per week , each @2.5 hours, spread over 32-40 weeks, normally on Saturday afternoon [4 to 930pm] and Monday evening [6 to 830pm]

EVALUATION::

  • MODULE- I: As per evaluation of PGPME given at the end of this outline
  • MODULE II: STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT [separate evaluation system for each of the 5 AREAS]
    • Attendance in Live Digital classes – 10 %[ minimum 60% attendance needed to qualify for certification; additional term papers to be written in case of shortfall against the minimum % needed]
    • Class participation – 15% [ minimum 60% attendance needed to qualify for certification; additional term papers to be written in case of shortfall against the minimum % needed]
    • Surprise Quiz: 15%
    • Term Paper [ 1 number]  : 15 %  - ALL COMPANY SPECIFIC
    • Group Presentation: 15%
    • End term examination: 30% 
  • MODULE III: CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE AND RESEARCH ISSUES IN STRATEGY, EXECUTION, INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND LEADERSHIP [one set of evaluation- all 5 components together]:
    • Attendance in Live Digital classes [20 sessions put together]  – 20 %
    • Class participation – 20%  [20 sessions put together]
    • Group Presentation  [all sessions put together]: 30%
    • Comprehensive Examination: 30% [one examination for  all 20 sessions coming under the entire module]

NOTE:

  1. All term Papers and also Dissertation must be real-life application specific and each participant will be expected to apply the concept and practices learnt during formal sessions as well as a part of the self - studies made outside formal sessions. Specifically, participants joining PGPMSL will be expected to write their term papers plus dissertation covering relevant issues relating to strategy and leadership challenges that are likely to be faced by them as future business leaders in their respective future business contexts.
  2. All Written Examinations will be [applicable for Module II and III only]:
    • Open book on-line examinations
    • Concept of question banks and interviews of a few  participants, randomly selected,  immediately after each examination
    • Re-examination to improve grades with conditions

GRADING:

  • PGPME [150 hours + dissertation] : As per guideline in the outline given below
  • For  remaining 50 hours [Module II & III] : A+, A, A-, B+,B,B-, C and F

ADMISSION PROCESS:

  • Profile as given under Target Group
  • Statement of Purpose stating intention to become a Future manager and/or an entrepreneur
  • Perspective and Aptitude Test [PAT]  for assessing [a] the  extent of sensitivity to general environment, [b] written communication skill and  [c] attitude and orientation towards achieving success
  • Personal interview  for assessing  intent to become  a future manager and/or an entrepreneur

CERTIFICATION

To be awarded POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT, STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP[PGPMSL] by The Strategy Academy Centre for Advanced Studies [TSACAS], subject to meeting the following requirements:

  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of PGPME
  • For additional 50 hours, Attendance and CP of 60% in the live digital classes
  • Successful completion of  MODULES  II & III as per evaluation and grading system described above

NOTE:

  • It is an autonomous PROFESSIONAL certificate.
  • The Academy has a well documented policy that spells out the requirements of SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION.   Failure to meet all conditions will lead either to “INCOMPLETE” status [which can be converted to SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION certificate  on meeting the residual requirements within the stipulated time period allowed under the Academic policy]  or  “PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATE’ [applicable to those participants who could not even meet the requirements of “INCOMPLETE” status within the formal duration of the program]

It is an autonomous PROFESSIONAL certificate.

  • USD 2400 [INR 96000/- + Service Tax]

POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP [PGPME]

TARGET GROUPS:

  • Working executives with a minimum of 50% at graduation level and  working in various functional areas such as Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply chain management, R&D, finance and accounts, personnel and administration, purchase etc
  • Participants and their organizations feel that the former urgently need cross-functional management skills as well as strategic perspective in order to improve their comprehensive understanding of business, including the internal and the external drivers,  and deliver far higher level of performance.
  • Entrepreneurs  with a minimum of 50% at graduation level
  • Ideal experience: 6+ years
  • Self confident and ambitious individuals who are keen to GET READY ahead of the unfolding business challenges.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • To help the participants get ready with critical business and management capabilities to become a total business manager
  • To prepare the participants in facing the competitive world of business and make them emotionally strong to face challenges of the market place.
  • To develop an ambition in each participant to do well in managerial or business career [and in the process make  their organizations successful] and provide  him/her with the required  intellectual and emotional inputs necessary to pursue that ambition.

PROGRAM DESIGN [ 150 Hours of LIVE contact with Faculty spread over 40 weeks plus Dissertation on either [A] STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP or [B] preparation of a NEW BUSINESS PLAN [50 HOURS OF WORK]:

DESIGN

  • 10 AREAS with each area containing several subjects [listed below] – LIVE Contact with faculty: 150 hrs
  • One dissertation  on either strategy and leadership or preparation of a NEW BUSINESS PLAN – 50 hours
  • Total 150   hours of LIVE contact with faculty over the DIGITAL network, all 10 AREAS put together plus 50 hours of dissertation = 200 hrs
  • Deployment of  LIVE, 2 Way Interactive,  DIGITAL [web conferencing ] platform for conducting 150 hours of formal sessions.
  • Availability of recorded versions in case some sessions are missed
  • Up to three sessions per week , each @2.5 hours, spread over 30-35  weeks, normally on Saturday afternoon [4 to 930pm] and Monday evening [6 to 830pm]

DURATION

  • Two years
  • Four  semesters – each  of 6 month duration

Project: Dissertation

Participants will be assigned individual projects. The credit will be equivalent to three theoretical subjects. Evaluation will be based on work-in-progress (25% by supervisor), and final Dissertation submitted (75%)

Evaluation and Grading

EVALUATION [Area-wise where an AREA comprises several subjects]:

  • Attendance in Live Digital classes – 10 %[ minimum 60% attendance needed to qualify for certification; additional term papers to be written in case of shortfall against the minimum % needed]
  • Class participation – 15% [ minimum 60% CP  needed to qualify for certification; additional term papers to be written in case of shortfall against the minimum % needed]
  • Surprise Quiz: 15%
  • Term Paper [ 1 number]  : 15 %  - ALL COMPANY SPECIFIC
  • Group Presentation: 15%
  • End term examination: 30% 

GRADING:

  • A+, A, A-, B+, B, B- , C and F [9 point scale with A+ = 9, C =3 and F = 0]
  • CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) for all 11 Areas  put together

ADMISSION PROCESS:

  • Statement of Purpose stating intention to become a Future manager and/or an entrepreneur
  • Perspective and Aptitude Test [PAT]  for assessing [a] the  extent of sensitivity to general environment, [b] written communication skill and  [c] attitude and orientation towards achieving success

CERTIFICATION

To be awarded the certificate titled POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP [PGPME] by The Strategy Academy Centre for Advanced Studies [TSACAS], subject to meeting the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of PGPME [Minimum CGPA: 4.0 [B MINUS], Maximum F: 2]
  • Attendance  and Class Participation of  60% in the live  classes [additional term  papers to be written to make up any  shortfall against the minimum  required [i.e. 60%]  subject to the  limit  of maximum shortfall set thereof]

NOTE 1

In place of the above referred PGPME program, participants can join the POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP [PGDME] which will be jointly certified by Jadavpur University School of Educational Technology and The Strategy Academy Centre for Advanced Studies [TSACAS], subject to meeting the following requirements:

  • Attendance  and Class Participation of  60% in the live  classes [additional term  papers to be written to make up any  shortfall against the minimum  required [i.e. 60%]  subject to the  limit  of maximum shortfall set thereof]
  • Visit the Jadavpur University School of Education Technology campus in Calcutta for 5 days and attend some select live face to face sessions and meet other participants of the program there  towards the end of the 150 hours of LIVE sessions and before starting the work on dissertation
  • Successful completion of  PGDME Program requirements [Minimum CGPA: 4.0 [B MINUS], Maximum F: 2] – which are same as PGPME
  • Pay a fee of Rs  90000/- + ST  [ in place of 75000/- + ST for PGPME]  plus examination fee as per university rule.

NOTE - 2:

  • Participants of  Program  will be able to upgrade their above certificate to POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT, STRATEGY  AND LEADERSHIP [PGPMSL] or  POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN STRATEGY, INNOVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF START UPS [PGPSIMS] conducted by The Strategy Academy Centre for Advanced Studies [TSACAS] on meeting certain easy-to-satisfy conditions.

FEES:

  • USD 1800  i.e. INR 75000/- + Service Tax for PGPME.
    • USD 2200 i.e. INR 90000/- + Service Tax + examination fee if the applicant opts for the  PGDME program [as mentioned above] which will be jointly certified by Jadavpur University School of Education Technology and TSACAS.
