Eight Months Certificate Program in Business and Management [CPBM] – Autonomous for non-MBAs/ PGDMs

TARGET GROUPS:

  • Undergraduate and Post Graduate  students in engineering, medicine, science, arts, commerce and other subjects  who are studying  in their final or pre-final year
  • Diploma students studying in the final year  also are eligible to apply.
  • Minimum 50% for graduates and diploma holders
  • Self confident and ambitious individuals who are keen to GET READY for the job market or start their own business before they complete their graduation.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  • To help the participants get ready with critical business acumen and management capabilities well ahead of their entering the job market or starting their own business venture.
  • To prepare the participants in facing the competitive world of business and make them ready to get going from Day 1 of their career without any support from anybody.
  • To prepare the participants to make an informed  career choice among 4  options available – [1] go for an MBA/PGDM, [2] join a company and work for a few years as graduate trainee/officer  and then pursue an MBA/PGDM and [3] start a small business venture and become the owner of own business from Day 1and [4] join family business [applicable to those who belong to a family having its own business]
  • To develop an ambition in each participanant to do well in managerial or business career that he/she will select and  provide  him/her with the required  intellectual and emotional inputs necessary to pursue that ambition.

PROGRAM DESIGN [ 120 Hours of LIVE contact with Faculty spread over 24-30 weeks]:

DESIGN

  • 9 AREAS with each area containing several subjects [listed below]
  • Total 120 hours of LIVE contact with faculty over the DIGITAL network, all  AREAS put together
  • Deployment of  LIVE, 2 Way Interactive,  DIGITAL [web conferencing ] platform for conducting 120 hours of formal sessions.
  • Availability of recorded versions in case somebody misses a session
  • Up to three sessions per week , each @2.5 hours, spread over 25-35 weeks, normally on Saturday afternoon [4 to 930pm] and Monday evening [6 to 830pm]

EVALUATION [Area-wise where an AREA comprises several subjects
listed above]:

  • Attendance in Live Digital classes – 10 %[ minimum 60% attendance needed to qualify for certification]
  • Class participation – 15% [ minimum 60% CP  needed to qualify for certification]
  • Surprise Quiz: 15%
  • Term Paper [ 1 number]  : 15 %  - ALL COMPANY SPECIFIC
  • Group Presentation: 15%
  • End term examination: 30%

GRADING:

  • 5 levels of  Qualitative Grading : Excellent, Good, Average, Fair  and Poor
  • Concept of Cumulative Average Score [CAS] for all 9 AREAS  put together [Maximum: 5.0; Minimum for successful completion: 2]
  • Maximum 2 Poor  allowed

INTERNSHIP:

  • Each participant of CPBM, not employed by the time course work, ref above, ends, has to undergo 8 weeks of internship with an organization in the city of his/her stay. It is a compulsory requirement.

ADMISSION PROCESS:

  • Profile as given under Target Group
  • Statement of Purpose stating intention to become a Future manager and/or an entrepreneur
  • Perspective and Aptitude Test [PAT]  for assessing [a] the  extent of sensitivity to general environment, [b] written communication skill and  [c] attitude and orientation towards achieving success
  • Personal interview  for assessing  intent to become  a future manager and/or an entrepreneur

CERTIFICATION

To be awarded POST GRADUATE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT, STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP[PGPMSL] by The Strategy Academy Centre for Advanced Studies [TSACAS], subject to meeting the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of  CPBM [Minimum CAS: 2.0 , Maximum POORs: 2]
  • Attendance  and Class Participation of  60% in the live digital classes [additional term  papers to be written to make up any  shortfall against the minimum  required [i.e. 60%]  subject to the  limit  of maximum shortfall set thereof]

NOTE:

  • It is an autonomous PROFESSIONAL certificate.
  • The Academy has a well documented policy that spells out the requirements of SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION.   Failure to meet all conditions will lead either to “INCOMPLETE” status [which can be converted to SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION certificate  on meeting the residual requirements within the stipulated time period allowed under the Academic policy]  or  “PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATE’ [applicable to those participants who could not even meet the requirements of “INCOMPLETE” status within the formal duration of the program]

FEES:

  • USD 900 [INR 36000/- + Service Tax]

HOW TO APPLY – Four key steps

  • Please write to ccg1@thestrategyacademy.org along with CV; the CV should have complete academic details and work experience and must also contain a statement of purpose.
  • Have a telephonic discussion with the Communication and Counselling Group of the Academy on program details and whether  the profile of the applicant and his/her career aspirations match with the objectives of the program.
  • Complete the Perspective and Aptitude Test [PAT].
  • Personal discussion over telephone with the Academy’s Operations Management Group.
  • If the above steps are successfully completed, deposit the fees at least 14 days before the start of the FIRST session

NOTE: If an applicant wishes, he/she can attend a LIVE Digital demo session. Such a participation will help the applicant get a feel of the web conferencing platform. For this, he/she should speak to the Communication and Counselling Group of the Academy and discuss the date and time most convenient to him/her for attending the session.
